Welcome to HotelGuide.Networks' directory of hotels and hotel reviews for St. Cloud, Minnesota!

Minnesota’s St. Cloud -- known as "Granite City" for its quarries and stone-finishing providing an early economic boost -- got its start as three separate settlements founded along the Mississippi River by three diverse men. One, a former slave owner, was involved in fur trade and brought slave-owning southerners to the area; a second Protestant enterpreneur opposed slavery; and the third brought in Catholics from Germany for an envisioned sawmill. The three communities merged in 1856, naming their town St. Cloud after a Paris suburb to reflect French heritage. Soon after, discovery of granite brought new prosperity. Downtown revitalization has been a priority for the past decade, with the central business district listed in the National Register of Historic Places. A walking tour book, published by the city and private partners, highlighting 43 exploration options, with historic trolley operators in period dress using it for narration. Trolley tours also include a residential historic district and historic gardens stretching along the Mississippi. Attractions include Munsinger and Clemens Gardens, the Stearns History Museum, and downtown’s restored 1921 Paramount Theater.

Fine dining options include Cork’s Grill & Wine Bar, an independently owned St. Cloud original for steak and seafood, Anton’s for lunch or dinner in an authentic log cabin, and the Blue Heron Supper Club, a landmark for good meals from a wide menu. Casual options include Granite City Food & Brewery, Sawatdee Thai Restaurant, Park Diner, and Old Country Buffet. Clearwater Travel Plaza is home of Nelson Bros. Restaurant & Bakery serving "World Famous Fritter Bread." Shoppers head for downtown St. Cloud, Division Street Centre, Midtown Square, Crossroads Shopping Center, Centennial Shopping Center, Marketplace Shopping Center and Annex, and the Albertville Premium Outlets. Gruber’s Quilt Shop, in the DanTree Court Plaza across from Crossroads, is considered a destination for quilters from around the world. Accommodations range from cottages at the Bug-Bee Hive Resort to B&Bs like the Wild Rice Inn, and nationally known chain motels and hotels.
